Connecting Boys To Church

It’s a way of helping someone feel like they belong.

Genesis 2:1-18

Reference: The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. (‭Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬ NIV)

Explore: My husband has a philosophy in helping boys connect in with church. It’s not a trap or a manipulation, it’s a way of helping someone feel like they belong.

Girls may be able to connect in well through relationships. If they find the right group of friends they feel comfortable and stay engaged.

My husband believes that if you find something for a boy to do, he’s more likely to feel connected. This is true for everyone, but particularly for those who may not connect as easily through song and music.

If a young guy is given a task and made to feel like they are contributing, then they are more likely to stay as part of the faith community.

Application: It seems God had the same idea with Adam! When He created man, He placed him in the Garden of Eden where Adam was to take care of it.

I think that’s why God gives each one of us skills and talents. He knows the benefit of contributing to something.

When you participate you get a greater sense of fulfilment and recognise you are a part of something bigger than yourself.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for giving us the skills to connect in with You and with Your community. May we use our talents to build Your kingdom. Amen.

How have you made connections into the church community?
