We knew there were some issues with our roof and when the forecast predicted 3 months rain in 3 days we were very nervous. We watched the radar as the rain moved across the state and listened carefully to news reports to see how bad it was really going to be.
Sure enough the drops started plopping on our floor just after lunch. Some leaks were just small but a couple were a much larger concern. When I had to wake our baby up because he was getting a wet head from a leak above his bed, I knew it was time to take action.
We called the company who is currently renovating our house and they said they would send someone over. Three hours later and no one had turned up and we were none the wiser as to when they would arrive. As the fourth hour ticked over, now beyond business hours, we wondered if help was in fact on its way.
Fortunately it was. And it came in the shape of a heavily tattooed man named Steve. He drove up, hauled a tarp over our house and then headed off into the distance! He didn’t say much but he gave us the confidence to sleep well that night.
After another 24 Hours if constant rain I no longer look for leaks in the ceiling. I walk confidently through my house knowing we are covered.
I wish I adopted the same attitude in the rest of my life. Because God is like Steve and God’s Love is like the tarp over our house.
Whenever I call on God He is there. He may not always say a lot but He is faithful and will always turn up. And He covers us with a love that the greatest of storms could never remove.
And if we fully acknowledge that God’s love is always covering us then we can walk with confidence in the life that God has called us to live.
God is there for you. His love is always over you. Believe in Him and walk with confidence in the life you’ve been called to live.
Lord, thank you for your presence and your love. May I never doubt you again. Amen.
How confidently are you walking under God’s love?
