Every item that has been moved needs to be out in its new home.

Explore: Moving house is always an arduous task. There’s the sorting, the packing, the cleaning, the lifting, the unpacking…
One of the tasks I often forget about is all the work putting things in place at the new abode. Every item that has been moved needs to be out in its new home. There are some obvious spots for pots and pans, linen and towels.
But for me the trickier items are wall hangings.
There are walls in every room so a picture or a painting could go in any space. This is where my lack of artistic ability becomes obvious. I just don’t seem to have an eye for hanging pictures.
But once they are up, they make such a difference to a place. It turns from a house into a home.
Application: I think there are certain things we need to settle in our own lives as well. As we move from one season to the next, we need to settle certain feelings, ideas and theological stances within ourselves.
This doesn’t require us to move things physically but to give ourselves time to sort out our minds and how we sit with God.
When something is still in a box in the middle of the room, it’s easy to see it still needs to be put away. But when things are left unsorted in our minds, we often try to push them to the side.
They will always keep coming up and often tripping us up, until we find peace with where we sit in the new season of life. Instead of pushing it to the side, take the time to sort out the baggage in your mind too.
Prayer: Lord, You have created us in such a way what our minds are important to our health. Help us to find the time and the right thinking to keep our minds clean and healthy. Amen.
What mind baggage do you need to sort out?
