Cirque du Soleil

Explore: A few years ago I went to see Cirque du Soleil. This is a performance company based in Canada that describe themselves as a “dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment.”
The performers are outstanding. They seem to defy gravity as they climb and jump and dive around the stage using super-human strength. The whole audience is on the edge of their seats as they watch the death-defying presentation.
Application: There are many incredible people in our world. Whether it’s amazing performance art, breath-taking story telling, brilliant mathematical ability, intricate surgical skills or incredible physical feats, people can be quite sensational.
However, there is nothing that a human can do that could surpass the greatness of God. No matter how incredible a person may be, it is just a small part of God’s creativity.
It is wonderful to marvel at other people’s ability and to applaud their strengths, but let’s not forget where they have received these gifts from. God has given each of us abilities and we can rejoice in the Lord whenever we use them.
Prayer: Lord, when we look at all the incredible people in our world it is hard to fathom how great You must be. May we give You the praise for the awesome abilities You give to all creation. Amen.
