Is there really such a dicerfenfe between how God is portrayed in the two testaments?God shows great mercy in the OT. He withdraws his punishment from Cain, the nation of Israel, the Ninivites in Jonah. Over and over in the OT he seeks for his people to repent and withholds judgment against them in hope that they turn to him.Yet in the NT, God is judgmental. He kills Annanais and Sapphira for lying to the church. Jesus is highly judgmental of the religious leaders telling them their condmenation will be greater than Sodom and Gommorah. Revelation shows the greatest outpouring of God’s wrath in the entire bible.I would suggest both Testaments speak of the wrath of God for those who reject Him and the grace and mercy of God for those who repent and accept their need for a savior.
