I’ve recently had quite a bit of length cut off my hair. I wasn’t sure whether my round chubby face could handle it but it’s been so much easier to maintain while parenting a toddler.
I had to laugh at myself the first couple of times I washed my hair. I piled up the shampoo like I used to do and then realised I only had half the hair to wash! I had so much white foam on my head that I could have been mistaken for Santa Claus!
Finally I started to remember that I didn’t need quite so much shampoo. It’s taken me quite a few showers but now I just put a little bit of lotion on my hand and work my way up to what I actually need.
It reminded me that it takes a little while to learn a new routine. When we decide to change a habit it may take a few goes before we get it right.
I know that when I feel challenged about something it takes me a while to make the change. If I feel God is prompting me about my giving it often takes a couple of opportunities before I start being obedient.
The problem comes when we forget so many times that we no longer bother trying to change. Without change we don’t allow ourselves to become better.
Let us not give up when we get things wrong but continue to persevere in the way we feel God is moulding us.
Lord, thank you for not giving up on us. While it may be a challenge we pray that you will continue to prompt us to be better in all areas of our life. Amen.
What is an area of your life that you feel God is prompting you to change?
