Challenges In Life

She pondered on what she could have done differently

Amos 6:1-14

Reference: “You drink wine by the bowlful and use the finest lotions, but you do not grieve over the ruin of Joseph.” ‭‭Amos‬ ‭6:6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: I recently caught up with a friend who had gone through a really tough time. She had seen the darker side of life and still had the emotional scars to show for it.

I was impressed at how reflective she was about her situation. She pondered on what she could have done differently, but even more so on how she could help others who had been through something similar.

While I wouldn’t wish these scars on anyone else, I could see she was making the best of working through a painful situation.

Application: There are many people who are naive to the challenging circumstances other people go through. And others who go through tough times only to become bitter and jaded.

While I don’t believe God gives us our challenges, He does help us to process the situation and gives us the opportunity to grow from it.

Each and every day we can become better people to reflect His character. It’s just whether we choose to do so.

Prayer: Lord, the prophets spoke to people back before Jesus was even born to help them live the right way. May we hear Your truth through the Bible and through our experiences so we can become more like You. Amen.

How have your challenges changed and formed you to be more like God?
