My naivety led me to ask what this was… I wish I hadn’t! A celebrity pass is someone famous that you would be granted permission to break your monogamous vow if the opportunity ever arose.
Let’s be honest, the chance of a celebrity pass ever happening is near impossible. And yet, just the discussion opens up the idea of infidelity.
Application: The statistics on lasting marriages is quite disheartening. While discussions around a celebrity pass may be a joke, it hints at the possibility of love that doesn’t last.
The Apostle Paul speaks of loving Jesus with an “undying love.” There’s no pass, no excuse, and no out option.
Our love for Christ is to be nothing short of the love He has for us – unconditional. God never offered us second best, so let’s respond back to Him in the same way.
Prayer: Lord, Your love is beyond our understanding. But may we strive to love You and others as you have loved us. Amen.
