Catching Up

I stick to just the main highlights.

John 20:24-31

Reference: “Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.” ‭‭John‬ ‭20:30‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: My sister is one of my closest friends. She is currently living overseas, so we don’t get to see each other often.

Our communication has been reduced to What’s App messages and the occasional Skype call. Because of these limitations I don’t tell her everything about my life. I stick to just the main highlights.

When she is home on holidays and we spend more time together we get to talk a great deal more. It’s then that we share the more incidental, everyday things because we have more time.

Application: The gospels we have in the Bible are incredibly insightful passages into Jesus’ life. We are so fortunate to have all the detail of Jesus’ life and examples.

While the 20 odd chapters in each of these four books give us great insight, they only touch on the main parts of Jesus’ three years of ministry. There must be so much more of Jesus’ life that was not written down, but we get a good idea of who He was and how He lived.

At the end of John chapter 20 the writer mentions that “Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples” but they were “not recorded in this book.”

The gospels are wonderful, but let’s not limit Jesus’ actions to that which is only captured in a few chapters. Our Saviour is still involved in our lives today and He wants us to continue to live and breathe the ways of God.

Be open to His prompting and willing to learn new things about our Saviour.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the incredible example You have given us. May we strive to live more like You everyday. Amen.

How can you live like Jesus today?
