At Capacity

There are times when I think my head will explode if I have to deal with anything more…

Psalm 73:1-28

Reference: till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny. (‭Psalm‬ ‭73‬:‭17‬ NIV)

Explore: I like to be busy. I work full time and have four children at home – it’s not hard to occupy my time.

But there comes a time when busyness turns into ridiculousness and I start to feel overwhelmed. Small things become monsters because I’m already at my limit of capacity.

There are times when I think my head will explode if I have to deal with anything more… and that’s when I’m reminded I don’t have to do it alone. Finally, when everything becomes too much, I will come to Jesus, exhausted and overwhelmed, and I will hand my burdens to Him. And every time, He will ease my soul.

Application: I’m the kind of person who struggles to ask for help and often this means I keep Christ at a distance. Yet, He is the one who brings meaning to the things that I do.

Each time I place my stress and worries at His feet, I come away knowing He is supporting me and He holds the bigger picture in His hands. Why don’t I go to Him earlier? Because I’m foolish and filled with pride, thinking I can do it on my own.

Learn from my mistakes, don’t try to do everything on your own. God is there for us and He knows better than we do.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me for my pride and arrogance. Help me to bring You into all I do so I get the right perspective into my actions. Amen.

What do you need to hand over to God?
