Building Armour

Suffering actually produced the armour they now had accessible to them.

Ephesians 6.10-17

Reference: In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. (Ephesians 6:16 NIV)

Explore: Friends of mine have recently been through a really tough time. They are faithful Christians and have hung on to God through their trial, but life has still been difficult for them.

They were reflecting on their faith, now that they’ve been through such suffering. They felt that through these challenges they have actually been given the armour of God.

The armour wasn’t something they could obtain to protect them from troubles, but that suffering actually produced the armour they now had accessible to them.

Application: No one looks forward to times of trial. But the hope we have in Christ is that our trials will not be for nothing.

God does not always bring the challenges, but He does equip us through them. It’s not in our own strength, but the power we have through Him, that gets us through and makes us better servants of our loving God.

Prayer: Lord, form in me the armour that I require to be a better disciple for You. Amen.
