I’m running a race that no one wins.
Reference: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Genesis 50:20 NIV
Explore: I was recently listening to the song “Breathe In, Breathe Out” from the band “The Afters”. One line really jumped out at me: I’m running a race that no one wins.
At this point in my life I have a few major decisions to make. As I look at all the ramifications from these decisions I sometimes feel a little bit like the line in the song. It is hard to live with, what seems like, a lose – lose situation.
But I must remind myself of the hope we all have in God. He has a divine way of taking a lose situation and working it for good.
Application: Joseph was well aware of this power of living in God’s future. It was pivotal in him rebuilding his relationship with his brothers, when he saw that their evil acts led Joseph to helping and saving many people.
In fact, over and over again we read in the bible of stories where people found themselves in such lowly positions and yet God used them with great purpose.
We do not always know where our lives will go but we have a faith that tells us God can use all things to draw us closer to Him.
Prayer: Lord, help us through our difficult challenges. May our faith in You stay strong as we rely on You to determine our future. Amen.
When has God turned around a challenging situation for you?
