Bottle Brush

My bottle brush and I have been through a lot this year. I bought this cleaning brush 12 months ago, anticipating I would need to use bottles to feed my new born. As I look back over the past year I feel this brush has been with me every step of the way.

When my son was born at a tiny 2.6kilograms and I worried that he wouldn’t grow, this brush came into play. When I had to change formulas as he was throwing up after every feed this brush felt my apprehension. And now as I slowly stop sterilising every single feeding element this brush is working harder than ever to ensure my little man doesn’t get sick.

I never thought a bottle brush was anything exciting. It was an implement to help get something specific clean and that’s about it. But having been so reliant on one for this whole year I realise that something ordinary can suddenly become extraordinary when given a purpose.

We can be considered the same. If we have no purpose or direction we can feel ordinary and like one day is the same as he next. But we don’t have to live life like that. God calls all of us to live a life with direction and purpose with Him.

The great thing is that God’s call can fit into any career or family situation you already find yourself in. You don’t have to be in church ministry to be following God’s call for you.

No matter where you are you can find ways to love God and love others. That is a purpose that is never ending! It can drive you every day of your life.

When we understand the immensity of the call placed on all of, that’s when we realise that we have a big challenge ahead of us for the rest of our lives!

Thank you Lord for your love. May we strive to love you and love others is all we do. Amen.

How has God called you to love Him and love others?
