There’s often no rhyme or reason, we just instantly hit it off.

Explore: There are some people that come into my life whom I connect with straight away. There’s often no rhyme or reason, we just instantly hit it off.

Krystyne is one of my closest friends whom I met over a decade ago.  We met through work and have stayed friends ever since. She’s even moved all around the globe, however, we still keep in touch.

We connect with each other so completely that we even have a hand gesture that we do when we are on the same wave length.  We put our fingers to our temples and then move our hands out towards the other person.

As Krystyne lives a long way away from me most of our conversations happen over the phone. But we will still do the hand gesture when we find ourselves saying the same thing, or thinking in the same way.

As we can’t see each other, we’ll just ask, “Are you doing it? Are you doing it?” And we’ll both know that we’re both moving our hands in the exact same way.

Application: Close friendships are special and something to be treasured. I feel that my relationship with Krystyne is truly a gift from God.

She gives me so much love, laughter, fun and encouragement. I know that my life is better from having her in it.

It seems that David and Jonathan had a similar relationship. They may not have had a cool hand gesture like Krystyne and I (!), however they were truly dedicated to each other and loved each other.

While our number one relationship should be our connection with God, I do believe that He brings special people into our lives. These people not only give us a better quality of life, but they also help us to see the character of God through others.

Through Krystyne I experience the joy, love and creativity of God. Let us not take our friends for granted but see them as another expression of all that God has created in our lives.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the people You bring into our lives. May we see You through them and get a greater understanding of who You are by those that surround us. Amen.

What godly characteristics do you see in your friends?
