Beyond A Bad Day

When all I can do is hold onto the hope I have in Christ as everything else seems to have failed.

Psalm 137:1-9

Explore: Life is not always easy and I have plenty of bad days. But there are a few days that really stand out as the lowest of the low.

Have you had a day like that? When things have gone so badly you’re not sure you are able to see any hope in the future.

I’ve had a few days when the things of this world have given me no joy and I wonder whether life will ever be the same again. When all I can do is hold onto the hope I have in Christ as everything else seems to have failed.

These are not days I look back on fondly but they are often turning points to a new season in my life.

Application: God’s people in Psalm 137 were so downcast they couldn’t even sing. They wanted to mourn instead of rejoice.

It seems these days happen to all people throughout all time. That doesn’t mean we are flippant when they do happen, but it can give us some perspective.

Prayer: Lord, life can throw us some horrendous challenges, even when we follow You sincerely. May we hold onto the hope we have in You. Amen.

When have you had a time of no hope?
