The. Best. Icecream

As Linda is on leave over the Christmas Season, here is one of her top rating Psalm posts for you to enjoy.

It didn’t take long for us to make a decision.

Psalm 75:1-10

Reference: We praise you, God, we praise you, for your Name is near; people tell of your wonderful deeds. (‭Psalm‬ ‭75‬:‭1‬ NIV)

Explore: Today I went to the most amazing ice cream store. It wasn’t a major chain store, but when my friends and I arrived at the shop, the line of customers waiting went out the door and down the street.

I am always up for ice cream, but my friends saw the line and discussed whether we would stay. It didn’t take long for us to make a decision.

Four out of five of my friends had heard about this ice cream. And they had heard it was GOOD. They had heard it was well worth the wait if you found yourself at the back of a long line.

In fact, my friends hadn’t just heard it from one person, but there had been numerous reports of how amazing this ice cream was. We were about to add to these reports.

The flavours were diverse but held amazing combinations. The ice cream was the creamiest I’ve ever tasted, it was like a sweet pillow dissolving on my tongue.

I’ve tasted a lot of ice cream in my time, but this was something special. And you can be assured that outside this blog, I will continue to tell people how good it is.

Application: It’s interesting that when we taste some fine food or go to a great location, we are quick to tell people about it. In fact, we’ve usually Tweeted or Facebooked about it before we’ve even finished.

And yet, when it comes to our experiences of God, we can hesitate to share, even to our believing friends.

Psalm 75 speaks of people telling of God’s wonderful deeds. I can assure you, God performs more wonderful deeds than there are people telling of them.

Let’s not be the type of Christian who speaks freely of fabulous restaurants but keeps our faith to ourselves.

Let’s be like the faithful people written about in the psalms, who proclaim their love for God every chance they get.

Prayer: Lord, from You all goodness flows. May we never hide Your wonder from our friends and family, but continue to declare Your greatness to anyone who can hear. Amen.

How can you tell of God’s wonderful deeds today?
