The true fans paint the team colours on their faces
Reference: Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me. (Psalm 56:9 NIV)
Explore: I love seeing passionate sports fans. They dress in their team colours, they know all the words to their team’s song and they attend every game they can.
The true fans sign up as members and the committed fans paint the team colours on their faces. Every conversation somehow comes back to the weekend’s game as they list off their favourite plays and their hopes for the finals.
When someone is a committed fan there is no doubt about which team they barrack for.
Application: In Psalm 56 it says that “God is for me”. If you had a colour, God would wear it in support of you.
If you had a song, God would know all the words. And if you played a game, God would sit on the front row!
But do you return the favour? If someone was to look at your life, could they easily see that you are for God?
Those who barrack wholeheartedly for Team God attend every service, they sign up to assist His team and they speak passionately about what He does. When you meet them there is no doubt who they barrack for.
Let us stay true to God’s team, committing ourselves completely to the work of His team.
Prayer: Lord, just as You have committed Yourself to me, I commit myself to You. May everyone I know be able to clearly see that I am on Your team. Amen.
If someone was to look at your life, could they easily see that you are for God?
