That doesn’t mean I was perfect!
Reference: Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who do evil, who speak cordially with their neighbours but harbor malice in their hearts. (Psalm 28:3 NIV)
Explore: I don’t have one of those death-to-life types of testimony. I grew up in a Christian family, always remember loving Jesus, and have never had a period of rebellion where I walked away for awhile.
That doesn’t mean I was perfect! I stole money from my mum’s wallet once to buy lollies, I lied about how I hurt myself because I was doing the wrong thing, and I hit one of my friend’s little sisters because she was annoying.
But the really good testimonies are those who found themselves in the pit of hell and experienced the redeeming grace of God.
Application: I know I am a sinner and in desperate need of God’s grace and, although I haven’t got a best-seller testimony, I’ve realized how much I need God’s grace after reading Psalm 28.
The Psalmist speaks of those who are evil and enemies to the Lord. Who are they? Are they the slave drivers, the pimps, the thieves?
No. The evil doers are those who are nice face-to-face but then try to cut down people behind their backs.
I guess you would say they are gossipers, manipulators and those who lack integrity. I’d have to say I was guilty of all those evil deeds.
No matter who you are and what your testimony is, we all need God’s grace. Thankfully He gives it freely to us all.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your grace. None of us deserve it, but all of us need it. May we accept it with thankfulness and use it to proclaim Your glory. Amen.
What do you need God’s grace for today?
