As we leave Summer, here in the Southern Hemisphere, and head into Autumn (Fall) all the leaves are doing their change of colour. The days are still sunny but the nights are cooling down. It’s like the whole earth is preparing for a change.
One of my favourite trees of all time is a tree that’s just down the road from our house. I don’t know what type of tree it actually is, but it catches my eye every Autumn.
The leaves turn yellow and as the sun sets on them at the end of every day it glows. It takes my breath away.
Luckily our street is not very busy because I always slow down and marvel at its beauty. Its colour, its position, the sun setting – it all works perfectly together to set a stunning scene.
God is really showing off when it comes to natural beauty with this one.
I know in a month or so the tree will drop all its leaves and it will be left barren for another winter. But until that happens I’m happy to take in its beauty.
This tree is good all through the day, but when the sun shines on it, that’s when it truly becomes breath-taking.
It is the same when it comes to us. We are competent to achieve many things throughout the day, but if we are willing to reflect the work of God’s Son, that is when our beauty will truly shine through.
No matter what we do or how we live, if we are loving God and loving others then our work will be breath-taking.
Lord, You gave us the ultimate example of how to live. May we reflect Your light in everything we do. Amen.
How can you shine in God’s light today?
