I probably should have just googled it, but instead I went straight to the guru
Reference: One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” (Luke 11:1 NIV)
Explore: Our Online Coordinator at work needed some screen grabs from me. He sent me an email with some general requests and selecting some screen grabs was a part of his list.
As someone who is only marginally technically literate, I hesitated at his request. I had heard there were a couple of keys you could press and it would give you a shot of whatever was displayed on the monitor, but I could not remember which buttons they were.
I probably should have just googled it, but instead I went straight to the guru and asked the Online Coordinator himself.
He graciously took the time to show me a cool program, already on my computer, that allowed you to highlight the area on the screen you wanted to copy. It only took him a couple of minutes, but I now know how to take a screen shot and I’ve done it many times since.
Application: We often hesitate to ask for assistance in fear we will look stupid. And yet, sometimes these requests can really help us and the people around us.
Thankfully one of Jesus’ disciples was not afraid to ask for assistance. He specifically asked Jesus how to pray.
I wonder if the other disciples baulked at this request. I wonder if the disciple who asked worried that Jesus would think him stupid to ask for help in something that we should all know how to do.
But I’m glad this disciple asked because Jesus’ answer has been helping people to connect to God for the last two thousand years!
Let’s not stop asking God, and other wise people, for help. You just never know how much help it’s going to be for you and for others.
Prayer: Lord, how can I keep getting closer to You? Amen.
What do you need to ask for assistance with?
