Appreciate Your Mother

Thank you, Mum, for the literally thousands of loads of washing

Hosea 13:1-16

Reference: When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me. (Hosea 13:6 NIV)

Explore: Growing up my mother did everything for me. At the time, it was just the norm, but now I look back I can truly appreciate it.

Thank you, Mum, for the literally thousands of loads of washing you have done for me. Thank you for every meal you provided, without question or whinging.

Thank you for helping me pursue every dream, whether it was within an assignment, a hobbie or a potential career. Thank you for showing me what it is to truly love someone, through the good and the bad.

Thank you for teaching me that it’s okay to laugh at yourself. Thank you for showing me how to be a strong, independent female.

Forgive me for taking all of this for granted and not acknowledging all of the thousands of other things you have done for me.

Application: It’s so easy to take the ones we love for granted. And yet, they are the ones who give us the strength to be who we are today.

God is an incredibly generous God, but let’s not take Him for granted either. He already loves us sacrificially and desires for us to be humble and loving. He doesn’t need anything from us in return but desires for us to do the same for others.

To show appreciation to God, who has given us everything, we can pay it forward and do to others as He has done for us.

Prayer: (State your own prayer expressing your appreciation to God)

Who, in your life, has given you something to be appreciative of?
