Acknowledging Greatness

We sit on the edge of our seats cheering for those we love and appreciate.

Psalm 61:1-8

Explore: There are many award shows we can see on TV that acknowledge greatness in certain fields. The best known and most watched awards are those celebrating the achievements of famous actors and singers.

We sit on the edge of our seats cheering for those we love and appreciate. We defend their wins and balk when they are passed by.

I love awards because they highlight the skills of people who are greater than I am. While I may not be able to act or sing, I can appreciate those who are greatly skilled at it.

Application: Awards remind us to look for the greatest. And there is no one greater than God.

When it comes to looking for someone to celebrate, to assist us, to live like, to understand us, God is at the top of the list. He will always be greater than us and that’s nothing we should feel disappointed about, but something to rejoice in.

We are connected to the greatest of all time. There is no one better than God. And we are blessed to call Him friend, Saviour and Lord.

Prayer: Lord, there is none like You. Thank You for loving us and being there for us. Amen.

Who is someone great in your world?
