Access All Areas

When I was with her it was like I could go anywhere and do anything

Romans 5:1-21

Reference: v.1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (TNIV Bible)

Explore: Have you ever been back stage at a performance before?  When you’re at a concert it seems like backstage would be the coolest place to be.  It’s where all the performers are and only the special people are given access.  A little while ago I went backstage at a concert with a friend of mine.  She was good friends with all of the band and was given an ‘Access All Areas’ pass.  When I was with her it was like I could go anywhere and do anything, she didn’t even need to use her special pass as everyone welcomed her backstage with open arms.  At one point we got separated and I felt people were looking at me, questioning what I was doing backstage.  But as soon as I explained whom I was connected to, they smiled and accepted me as well.  I felt so cool… due to my association with my friend!

Application: Just as I was justified in being backstage through my friend, I am justified to be in the presence of God through my faith in Christ Jesus.  He has the ‘Access All Areas’ pass and allows me to connect with God in a greater way.  It’s not by what I’ve done or who I am that I have access, but due to my connection with Jesus that I am welcomed into God’s family.  When I come before God and explain that I’m with Jesus, then God accepts me as his own.  There is nothing that I have done that means I deserve to be backstage with God, but Jesus is my connection to be in the presence of such glory.

Prayer: Lord, it would be totally acceptable for you to not have anything to do with us humans.  You are so far above us that I could understand if you wanted to remove yourself completely from us.  However you don’t; You did the opposite by sending your son so that we could ‘access all areas’ of you.  Thank you. Amen.

Do you know that Jesus wants to bring you into the presence of God and God WILL accept you?
