The bride and groom are seen to be beaming the whole way through
Reference: v.9 Burst into songs of joy together,
you ruins of Jerusalem,
for the Lord has comforted his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem. (TNIV Bible)
Explore: Today I was watching a youtube video of a flash mob at someone’s wedding reception.
It seems that a friend is finishing a speech when he suddenly breaks into Les Miserables, One Day More. As he continues other guests pop up at their tables and start to join in the song.
Not only is it heart-warming to see so many people get involved in this audio gift to their friends, but their voices are amazing. They must have theatre backgrounds because even on the shonky video camera the sound quality is stunning.
The bride and groom are seen to be beaming the whole way through and everyone is on their feet as the song finishes. Even I, a stranger to them all, was astounded by their presentation as the guests burst into song.
Application: Hearing rich voices join together in song is such an amazing way to celebrate. Whether you are standing in church singing worship or gathering with a footy team after a win, singing can bring people together and express so much feeling.
For me, I am not blessed with a great singing voice. And yet, I still feel the joy when I burst into song. I can appreciate other’s vocal beauty and love to join in when it’s loud enough for me to be unheard!
But, to be honest, when we burst into shouts of joy towards our Saviour, He is not listening to the quality of our voice but the expression from our hearts. Whether you are singing or speaking, may the bursts from your mouth be joyful to our God.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for the gift of singing, music and voice. May we use our words to celebrate You. Amen.
How can you use your voice to burst with joy for God today?
