That one incorrect degree can send you miles off your course.
Reference: And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (Genesis 6:5 KJV)
Explore: A few years ago I was fortunate enough to go on a cruise trip. We spent 18 days out at sea and there were long periods of time when we didn’t see land at all.
I marvelled at how well the seamen navigated us through our course and was impressed at the knowledge they must have that far surpassed my lack of direction. It made me realise how important this knowledge was for us to stay our course.
A slight degree of direction may not make a big difference when you travel a hundred meters. But when you are travelling thousands of kilometres, that one incorrect degree can send you miles off your course.
Application: It seems that while Adam and Eve only made one error, it sent the rest of humanity miles off their course. As the years passed by humans were acting so appallingly that even God regretted their existence.
This is mentioned in Genesis 6, only a couple of chapters away from the magnificent creation of the world. How easily one mistake can tumble into years of rebellion.
This is why we need to watch the decisions we make. One wrong turn can send us miles off our called paths.
The amazing thing about God is His grace to lead us back to Him, but we need to be aware when we have wandered away.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your grace that leads me back to the right path. May I be discerning with every small decision I make. Amen.
How can you tell you are making the right decisions?
