A Postcard From The Past

My sister got married in June last year. In July her and her new husband went to Mexico for their honeymoon. They had a wonderful time and afterwards flew back to their home in California.

It’s now April, nine months after their honeymoon, and my mother went to the letterbox to find a postcard… from Mexico!! It told us that my sister and her husband were having a wonderful time in Mexico and were soon to fly back to California. Wow! We think Australia Post is bad but that’s incredible.

My mother wondered where it had been all this time. And did it have an incredible story to share from its adventures?!

Thankfully it was just a postcard and not an important document. But it’s a reminder that we can’t always control what happens and when.

There are times when we want something to pass quickly. When I broke my ankle and couldn’t walk properly for months I just wanted that time to go past quickly.

But then there are times when we want something to last forever. When I went on holidays with my husband to Hawaii we could have kept holidaying forever.

But time keeps moving at the same pace, whether we want it to speed up or slow down. God has set time in motion for a reason. We’re not meant to stay stagnant, or to continue in the past. We’re to move forward gradually, knowing that He moves forward with us.

We are not always in control of time but we are in control of our own decisions. And we can decide how we want to spend the time we have got here on earth.

Lord, you have given us this time on earth. May we use it wisely, bringing glory to Your name and expanding Your kingdom here. Amen.

How do you feel you are spending your time here on earth?
