She dreams of having five minutes on her own to go to the bathroom in peace!
Reference: “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:31 NIV
Explore: A friend of mine has a child with high behavioural needs. Although other people have told her not to worry she continues to research and monitor the cycles of her child.
A lady at church has two sets of twins. One twin in each pair has a disability. This lady loves and cares for all her children and is their greatest advocate.
A colleague of mine is a single mum. She juggles working part time while caring for the children in all their activities. She dreams of having five minutes on her own to go to the bathroom in peace!
Application: We all hold different lives with varying challenges and opportunities. Not one family is the same.
I often hear preachers talk about the Proverbs 31 wife and as I read through the chapter I can see the bar has been raised high. But I like how the chapter ends, inviting others to honour her for her actions.
On Facebook someone posted a list of 10 things you could do for your wife. The suggestions ranged from giving her a weekend away to writing her a love letter.
All the suggestions were great, but it was the meaning behind them all, that your wife is valued and honoured, that spoke the loudest. Does a wife need to do good things before she is loved? Or does she do good things because she is loved?
Let’s all play our part in bringing honour to those we love.
Prayer: Lord, may I honour You in my marriage and with my family. May I strive to provide for them and bring pride to my family. Amen.
Who can you honour today?
