A Life Gone Too Soon

After years of mental struggle her body finally gave way.

Genesis 49:29-33

Reference: “Then he gave them these instructions: “I am about to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave in the field of Ephron the Hittite,” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭49:29‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: Tomorrow I will be attending my cousin’s funeral. After years of mental struggle her body finally gave way.

She was far from living a full life and her family are left behind grieving their loss. There is no doubt the pain and sadness will last with them for a long time.

But after such a long time of my cousin living in turmoil, she is now with a God who loves and accepts her unconditionally. Her family who have gone before will be there awaiting her arrival.

Application: Death is such a double edged sword. For us left behind we hold a part of the grief for a life time. But for those who pass on, they live in freedom and peace.

Jacob had a positive outlook on death, but he had lived many full years.

We never really know when we will pass on, all we can do is live our now in such a way that when it is our time to go, we can go with confidence.

Prayer: Lord, may each day we live be filled with many intentional moments to contribute to our life’s work. Amen.

Would you feel content with your life if it stopped today?
