A Grand Speech

Often people are only credited for their great life at their funeral

Psalm 145:1-21

Reference: He fulfils the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them (Psalm 145:19)

Explore: I love it when someone is acknowledged for the work they do. Often people are only credited for their great life at their funeral, but every now and again there is an award given or a speech delivered that shares some of the virtues of a great person.

Recently I heard a speech given in honour of a gentleman whom I had only known as a great businessman. Little did I know that he spends his annual leave visiting developing countries where he finds greater ways to assist with orphanages and financing micro businesses for those in need.

He didn’t feel the need to shout his achievements from the roof tops, but instead worked diligently, within his skill set, to make the world a better place.

Application: We can never encourage people enough for the good work they do. Likewise, there is no end to the praise that we can give God for the awesome goodness He shares every single day.

Psalm 145 is like a speech given in honour of our Lord, proclaiming all the great things that He does. If you’re ever struggling to think of something to thank God for, read through this psalm and it will remind you of His grace, goodness and compassion.

Prayer: Lord God, You continue to bring hope into our world. Thank You for loving us all individually and caring for each of us intimately. Amen.

What can you thank God for today?
