A Familiar Tune

I had never heard this song before but it was still slightly familiar.

Genesis 5:1-32

Reference: This is the written account of Adam’s family line. When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God. (‭Genesis‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬ NIV)

Explore: I usually have the radio playing in the car when I’m driving along. It’s not always on very loudly, just playing in the background.

The other day, even though the radio was playing fairly quietly, a song came to my attention. It had some cool turn of phrase in the lyrics and the tune was really catchy.

As I was listening and enjoying the new song I noticed some similarities in it. I believed I had never heard the song before, but it was still slightly familiar.

Once the song had ended, the radio announcer came on and mentioned it was the latest song from the artist Vance Joy. The familiarity suddenly made sense.

While I’d never heard this song before, it had similarities to his earlier music. A new tune that still sounded like his style.

Application: Vance Joy’s music is similar because he creates it with the same preferences and talents within him. It’s the same with our Creator too.

God has made each and every person and He made us all in His image. So that, no matter who we are, we all have a familiar tune of God within us.

Because of the free will He gave to humanity, we can choose whether we live out His character within us or not. But know, that when you see someone else, there will be an essence of God within them too.

We were all made in His image, let us not forget the potential we have within us because of His creation.

Prayer: Lord, may we live out Your image You have placed in our lives. Amen.

What part of God has He placed within you?
