5-Minute Workout

You can be tightening those abs, burning those calories, and shaping those arms in no time at all!

Nehemiah 9:1-38

Explore: Do you know there is such thing as a 5-minute workout? Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, all you have to do is follow a specific guide for five minutes and you can be tightening those abs, burning those calories, and shaping those arms in no time at all! And there are 9,480,000 sites on Google to let you know just what to do. OK, so it may be too good to be true, but I guess it’s better to do 5 minutes than not do anything at all.  In 5 minutes you may not get the full cardio workout, but every little bit helps.

Application: In Nehemiah 9 I feel like we get the 5-minute workout of Israelite history.  In this one chapter they summarise the past from Abraham, to the Promised Land, to their current situation of rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem.  Sure, you don’t get all the ins and outs of the story, but it is a decent summary of a large part of the Old Testament.  Let’s face it, we can’t take in the entirety of the Bible with every devotion, but just taking 5-minutes to dwell in the Word is an effective way of connecting with God each and every day.

Prayer: Lord, if we spent every single moment of every day in your Word, we would still only scratch the surface of your grandeur.  May we be committed to spending time each day with You so that our life can be stronger and healthier. Amen.
