A Dirty Kitchen
Once I’ve finished cleaning it is finally back to how it should be.
Reference: “For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.” 1 Corinthians 15:22 NIV
Explore: I’m sure not all teenagers are messy, but the ones I have lived with certainly were. I’ve never been too controlling on what their bedrooms look like. If they want to live in squalor, that’s up to them.
However, when it comes to the public areas in the house, I’m very pedantic.
I really like my bench tops clear. Believe it or not, crumbs and puddles of tea do not constitute “clear” in my book!
I have lost count of how many times I have walked into my kitchen to find it in total disarray. Then, for me to use my own space, it takes me a significant amount of time cleaning up before I can even get started.
Once I’ve finished cleaning it is finally back to how it should be.
Application: I wonder if that’s how God feels about us? He made the world perfectly, we messed it up and then He’s the one who had to come and clean it up for us again.
When I put it that way it sounds like God is the ultimate parent and we are the ultimate teenagers! And we often do much worse than just messing up the kitchen.
But that is the wonder of grace. God makes right what we have done wrong.
It doesn’t matter how badly we have messed up, God’s grace covers all. And while I clean up the mess of teenagers in a grumpy mood, God takes delight in making us right with Him.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your grace that covers us all. We humbly accept it. May it prompt us to show grace to others too. Amen.
