However, if you ask someone “Tell me 3 things you like about yourself”, people will ummm and ahhhh for quite some time. And to fill out the list of all three often takes some encouragement.
Application: Most people are very aware of their failings. And in the times when we feel incompetent or hopeless, those aspects we don’t like about ourselves become all the more obvious to us.
As I have been posting a blog from the Psalms every Friday for a few years now, Psalm 139 just kind of snuck up on me. I wasn’t anticipating the love, warmth and acknowledgement from my Heavenly Father that I received through reading this Psalm.
If ever you are feeling down and feeling that the things you don’t like about yourself are outnumbering the things you do like about yourself… read Psalm 139. It reminds us of how God surrounds us and loves us and has made us.
We don’t have to strive for any greater acknowledgement than from Him.
Prayer: Lord, you know me and yet you still love me! May I be kind to myself today. Amen.
