Wintery Moods

It's amazing to see the change in mood once Spring ticks over.

Hebrews 12:1-29

Reference:  v.28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe (NIV Bible)

Explore:  It's amazing how moods change when Winter turns into Spring.  In the area of Australia that I live in, winter brings cold temperatures, short days and lots of rain.  With the change of weather comes a change in mood.  During winter people seem to be more melancholy and less likely to go out due to the cold and wet conditions.  It's amazing to see the change in mood once Spring ticks over.  All it takes is the temperature to rise by a couple of degrees and a few hours of blue sky and people become a great deal more cheerful.

Application:  It's easy to become downcast when we feel life is serving us up wintery experiences.  When our career hits a dead end, a relationship struggles or our health deteriorates it can be hard to lift up our heads and be thankful.  And yet, if we were to really look at all that God is and all that He gives to us then we would not be able to do anything but be truly thankful.  Now let's be honest, when we're in those difficult situations we don't look to God and give praise but He is still there and is still faithful.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to look to You at all times.  May I see past my own wintery experiences and notice the new life that I have in You.  Amen.

What are you thankful to God for?
