I realised it was for my own good
Reference: “But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.” John 16:7 NIV
Explore: I really don’t like taking antibiotics but after three weeks of suffering with an ear infection I bit the bullet and went to the doctor. Sure enough, I was prescribed some antibiotics.
While I didn’t necessarily want to take antibiotics I realised it was for my own good. Without them I would continue to be in pain and to sleep poorly.
While I might like to think I know what is best, a doctor has greater knowledge on what is good for my health.
Application: God is the same when it comes to our lives. We often think we know what is best for us, but God has much better understanding of what is good for us.
We don’t always know what God’s plan for us is, but that’s where our faith comes into it. From reading the scripture we hear that He knows what is best for us and so we trust Him with our lives.
Even when days turn dark and the world throws us great challenges, we trust God is with us and desires the best for us.
Prayer: Lord, may I trust in You with all my heart. Even when life is challenging, may I hold onto Your love and faithfulness. Amen.
When has God proven to you that He knows what is best?
