Look To The Light

Our front door is very attractive… to wildlife!! No matter how many times I clean the area it takes no time at all for the creepy crawlies to return.

To be more precise, it’s not specifically the front door, it’s the big bright light that shines on our front door. Every night it shines brightly beckoning all the insects, moths and spiders into its glow.

It’s like they have a big porch light party every single night.

In one sense, I am just like the wildlife. The light helps me see my way in the dark and leads me towards the entrance to my home. It does everything a light is supposed to do. I guess that’s why it’s so popular with the six and eight legged varieties.

Jesus said that He was the light of the world. Many people were drawn to Him, and still are today. His light beckons us towards a brighter future.

My porch light is a good reminder for me that not just people like me are drawn to God’s light. It takes all sorts of people to show interest in the light and to build the kingdom of God. Let’s not limit God’s kingdom to our narrow view. God is for everyone – even the spiders and the bugs!

Lord, may I continue to look to Your light, the best guidance I could search for. May I be open to all others who are drawn by Christ’s light also. Amen.

How much are you following the light?
