I’ll leave little reminders around the place so I remember things.

Explore: I used to be amazing at remembering things but I’m finding, as I’m getting older, I’m struggling to remember all the details. Add in that I’m now pregnant and it’s even worse!
I don’t know whether there are just more things for me to remember now, or maybe my brain is so full it struggles to hold in the new thoughts. Whatever the case may be, I don’t like forgetting things and so I’ll leave little reminders around the place so I remember things.
It might be a list on a scrap piece of paper, it might be an alarm that goes off at a certain time. I’ll email myself a message so I’m reminded to do something at work or I’ll ask other people to remind me (out of all my techniques, this one is the least effective!!)
Reminders help me to bring to the front of my mind something important I don’t want forgotten.
Application: God gives us reminders too.
I regularly get emails from people who read my devotions who say my words were particularly timely for them.
These are often people living on the other side of the world whom I’ve never met, and yet God uses my words to speak directly into their lives.
I’ve found this to be the case too. God has reminded me of important truths with sermons, articles, and bible passages that pop up just at the right time.
Sometimes these reminders give me joy, sometimes they remind me of something I need to change.
Peter was given a very clear reminder when the rooster crowed after he’d denied Jesus three times. This sound allowed Peter to recall Jesus’ words as well as remind him of who he was and who he followed.
Isn’t it amazing that our God loves us so much that He’s even willing to remind us of who He is and who we are called to be?!
It’s good for us to be diligent in reminding ourselves of God’s character and let’s rejoice in our glorious Lord when He blesses us with His own reminders.
Prayer: Lord, reminders are there so we don’t forget to be diligent in our plans and intentions. Thank You for helping us stay on track to be better followers of You. Amen.
What important things in your life should you set a reminder for?
