The Most Important Item On The List

This is always a busy time of year for me. Work is relentless, social events are constant and family commitments are at an absolute high. It can be challenging to juggle everything at once.

My coping method is writing lists.

I have a list on a pad of paper at work, I have a list on my phone that goes with me wherever I go and I have a list in the head that goes around and around. There are lots of good and important things on those lists. Things that will make my life easier in the long run and will make other people pleased I have completed them.

Late one night, before going off to sleep, I was thinking about my lists. I was contemplating what was on them and if anything needed to be added. And then I realised something quite shocking.

In all my attempts to do the right thing I had forgotten to add God into my lists. No where, in all my planning and prompting, had I added more of God Time into my life.

I’d love to say I have so much God Time in my life that I wouldn’t need to add anymore. But that’s not the case.

I can write lists as long as my arm but if I don’t include God in my day then all my work is in vain.

Let’s check our priorities. Are we writing God into our every day or are we too busy to include Him?

Lord, no matter what is going on in the world You have time for us. May we always strive to prioritise the time we spend with You so the rest of our lives have purpose. Amen.

Have you been too busy for God lately?
