Linda is away over the Christmas break.
Here is one of her Daily Devotions that has had some significant interest through www.youversion.com
To have faith in a chef is believing they will cook something well just by smelling the aromas from the kitchen
Reference: v.14a How much less, then, will he listen when you say that you do not see him (TNIV Bible)
Explore: I had a friend who was unwell. While her illness was not terminal it certainly had a debilitating affect on her lifestyle. When people spoke to her about God she would often say that she would believe in God if he healed her of her illness. While I could see that this would certainly be a significant moment in her life and I believed that she would acknowledge there was a God if He healed her, I didn’t feel that was really how faith worked.
Application: Faith is about believing before you have the proof. To have faith in a chef is believing they will cook something well just by smelling the aromas from the kitchen, not once you have tasted the food. Really, God continually leaves His aroma all over the place. We can smell his power in the crashing waves, we can smell his creativity in a beautiful butterfly and we can smell his love as you watch a mother nurse her child. God’s aromas are all around us, leaving us hints of his greatness and encouraging us to believe. We are truly blessed if God draws near to us and gives us a greater sign, but faith is when we believe in Him without needing the greater sign.
Prayer: Lord, it is so easy for us to doubt you. Forgive us when we desire a greater sign and help us to sense your aroma all around us. Amen.
Where have you experienced God’s aroma lately?
