Christmas Lunch

What do you eat on Christmas day?

Growing up with an English mother, every year we have turkey with ham and all the roast vegies, stuffings and sauces to go with it. I just assumed that’s what everyone ate at Christmas.

But meeting my husband and his Aussie family, I was amazed to hear they had seafood and salad for Christmas lunch. Could this really be classified as a true Christmas meal?

And then a few years ago I met a friend from an Italian background. He was looking forward to his grandmother’s special lasagne on Christmas day!

Each of these families are celebrating the birth of Jesus, but doing so in a very different way.

That’s what I love about God. He doesn’t care what we eat on Christmas Day, what our family background may be or what we have done in the past.  He invites all of us to join in the celebration at Christmas time.

Everyone can celebrate His love for us in their own way.
