While our wedding ceremony may have been impressive to my uni friends it sounds like it paled in comparison to the worship chorus of the angels.
Reference: v.11&12 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they sang: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" (NIV Bible)
Explore: At our wedding ceremony we had many people in attendance. Due to my husband and I being a part of medium sized churches, there were a decent amount of people from both sides that we wanted to have as a part of our special day. While everyone was able to fit in to the church they were all sitting side by side with very few gaps. I thought the service was wonderful with some singing, laughter, prayers and words of love. At the reception I was chatting to some of my friends from university. None of them attend church and they were discussing the ceremony. They said it was like sitting in the middle of the choir. When everyone started singing the worship songs it had sounded amazing and even though they didn't know the songs, they wanted to sing along too.
Application: When John had his vision of Heaven he tells of the worship of the angels. While our wedding ceremony may have been impressive to my uni friends it sounds like it paled in comparison to the worship chorus of the angels. John records them singing in a 'loud voice'. He doesn't say they were in perfect pitch, he doesn't say that they harmonised beautifully, he doesn't even mention that they were all in time, he just says they were loud. Now, my voice is far from recording standards but I do enjoy a heartfelt sing along. I love to be amongst other people who are all singing praises to God. It's not important that we are all in perfect harmony, the importance is that we are taking the opportunity to worship our Lord, who is certainly worthy of our praise.
Prayer: Lord, You are worthy to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise. May we offer that to You today. Amen.
How do you like to offer up praise to your Saviour?
