But behind the scenes I saw a very different story.

Explore: I was recently in a restaurant in Melbourne and needed to visit the bathroom. Following the signs I went through a door, down a corridor, past the kitchen and out into a courtyard where there were bathrooms.
On my way back to my seat I noticed a little more about the kitchen I was walking past. There were containers everywhere, the floor was filthy and people were running around everywhere.
It was at this point that I was glad we were only there for drinks!
This place was supposed to be an organised business that provided delicious, good quality food. But behind the scenes I saw a very different story.
Application: Unfortunately our churches can be similar to this restaurant.
The Church is to be the bride of Christ, reflecting all of His love, integrity and sacrifice. And yet, when you look behind the scenes you discover broken, hurt people all doing what they think is best.
God loves the Church and is always instructing us how to live and grow. The Bible is a great place to gain wisdom and I’m sure there are also some apostles in our world today who, like Paul, are guiding the church back to the Christ-like example it should be.
Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to how You would have the church. I know there is much variety in the style of worship, but may our essence of You speak loudly no matter who walks through our doors. Amen.
What do you and your church look like behind the scenes?
