Battles to Fight

There are times in my life when I feel I am in a battle.

Psalm 60:1-12

Reference: v.12 With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies. (TNIV Bible)

Explore: There are some amazing battle scenes in movies.  While I’m not a big one for violent films there are some powerful war encounters in some incredible films.  Braveheart is known for Mel Gibson’s moving speech before the battle against the English, The Lord of the Rings has some huge clashes as huge armies fight against each other and even The Chronicles of Narnia has some mighty battles with humans and animals together.  These amazing battles show courage, passion and determination.

Application: When it comes to my life I am fortunate enough to not have personally experienced war.  However there are times in my life when I feel I am in a battle.  My battles are not physical but that does not mean they are not real to me.  There are times when I have to battle with my own negative thoughts, there are times when I have to battle against someone’s prejudice and there are times when I have to battle against an injustice.  It’s during these times that I can turn to God for courage, passion and determination.

Prayer: Lord, help me through my daily battles.  Give me the wisdom to know which battles are worth fighting for.  Amen.

What battle do you feel you’re fighting at the moment?
