A Powerful Story

This is one of the best stories in the whole Bible!

1 Kings 18:1-46

Reference: “At noon Elijah began to taunt them. “Shout louder!” he said. “Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.”” ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭18:27‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Explore: I’ve just started getting into reading again. While I don’t have a great deal of time to spend reading novels, I am trying to pick up a book more often than view a screen.

There are thousands of great books in our world and I always love a good ending. To be honest, I get very angry when I put aside the time to read a book and I’m left disappointed by the end.

Application: If you take 5 minutes aside to read 1 Kings 18 you will not be disappointed by the end. This is one of the best stories in the whole Bible!

It speaks of justice and righteousness and the undeniable power of God. It is such a gutsy chapter that you could read it over and over and not get disappointed.

Each of our lives tells a story. If people could read you, what would they learn?

You get to decide what your story says. Don’t shy away from the challenging plot but strive to weave the power of God into every chapter.

Prayer: Lord, every day is not a 1 Kings 18 day but we can have moments where Your power is revealed. When those time come may we be willing to stand humbly on the top of Mt Carmel and rely on Your hand to move. Amen.

If people could read you, what would they learn?
