Dusty Faith

We have recently had our driveway dug up. It means the whole area is all dusty when it’s dry and all muddy when it’s wet.

The other day, on my way to work, I was wearing my good shoes. I didn’t want any dust or mud to get on them so I was very careful where I walked. I was sure to find the higher dry areas so the mud wouldn’t stick.

Later that week I had designated time to spend out in the garden. I put my work boots on, that were already dirty from previous garden work, and headed out across the driveway. I didn’t think twice about where I stepped. I just moved straight through. I knew my boots could handle any mud or dust that came their way.

When I thought about it later I thought this same example can represent our faith sometimes. Sometimes our faith can be like wearing the “good shoes”. We are wary where we step and we don’t want to make a wrong move in case things get too messy.

But strong faith is like wearing work boots. We can walk confidently into any situation knowing we are safe and secure.

God loves us. He accepts us no matter who we are or what we do. May our faith in Him be so strong and confident that we are able to walk into any situation and know He is right there by our side.

Lord, You love us when our faith is weak and when it is strong. But when our faith is strong we are able to live out Your calling on our lives in greater ways. May we continue to work towards a faith that is so strong it can climb mountains! Amen.

How strong and secure is your faith today?
